Would you like to be part of a public policy team focused on increasing adoption of cloud computing services, expanding technology infrastructure, and advancing data security across states, local government, and educational institutions in Hungary?

Amazon Web Services is the leading provider of cloud computing services, providing IT infrastructure offerings such as on-demand compute capacity, storage, content delivery, database services and more.
We are looking for a talented, innovative, and well-connected individual to represent the cloud computing business of Amazon, Earth’s most customer-centric company, before National and local policymakers, IT decision makers, and senior government executives in Hungary.

The successful candidate will proactively build relationships with key policymakers, IT decision makers and executives in government and other relevant organizations and help prioritize international, national, and local government public policy issues faced by AWS. You will work with our public sector and commercial businesses to create a policy environment that promotes cloud adoption to help customers thrive. This position will also lead AWS’s participation in key business associations and coalitions that are critical to advancing AWS public policy and business objectives. You will become familiar with all aspects of AWS’s business, and interface directly with the business units in the region. This government affairs and policy position may initially be based in one of the AWS Hubs (i.e. Berlin, Brussels, Munich, Rome, Vienna) and then moved to Budapest at a later stage. It will report to the Head of Public Policy Italy and CEE. You will participate in the AWS Europe, Middle-East & Africa Public Policy team and you will:

§ Assist in developing and executing government affairs advocacy objectives and public policy priorities for Amazon Web Services (AWS);
§ Work collaboratively and transparently with the AWS National and local government business team to ensure alignment between core business priorities, public policy goals and “go to market” strategies;
§ Identify and communicate potential (revenue) opportunities and threats, develop enhancement or mitigation strategies and policy positions; manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs and key initiatives in concert with AWS business objectives;
§ Facilitate high-level meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including National and local policy makers and executives, industry associations, and alliance partners to promote and advocate the company’s public policy policies;
§ Leverage appropriate corporate membership opportunities in industry associations and policy organizations on behalf of AWS, and ensure appropriate utilization of outside consultants; and
§ Ability to present and defend policy decisions to the public policy community and represents the company effectively at policy conferences.

The successful candidate must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. The responsibilities require that candidates be willing and able to make frequent trips across Hungary and, as needed, to Brussels, London, Munich, Seattle, Warsaw, and other international locations.


§ At least seven years of experience in corporate lobbying before National and local policymakers, and/or commensurate legislative or executive branch experience.
§ An advanced degree in areas such as Public Policy, Law, Social Sciences, or an MBA.
§ Strong knowledge of and background in advocacy and public policy development pertaining to: information technology-related (IT) issues such as privacy, cybersecurity, corporate compliance; procurement and contracting.
§ Association leadership experience is an added value.
§ Highly effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at highest corporate, National and local government levels.
§ Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity, with strongest professional reputation in the industry.
§ Fluency in Hungarian and English is necessary. Further proficiency in other CEE languages would be an asset.

§ Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with experience working on large projects with demonstrated ability to effectively and comfortably interact at highest corporate, political and educational levels.
§ Strong analytical skills, including ability to dive deep and understand how legislative and regulatory proposals may impact AWS business in Hungary.
§ Ability to identify and understand key technical aspects pertaining to corporate operations in legislative and regulatory proposals, understand business implications, and synthesize policy documents for internal and external customers.
§ Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others is required. Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen.
§ Team player who is willing to roll up her/his sleeves to get the job done.
§ Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships and networks with others.
