Description of the position

As an Area Manager (AM) your main responsibility is to achieve Orion Pharma short and long term business targets in your territory (Africa and Latin America). You will actively develop the current business but also build the future in order to be successful and reach the new heights.  You will collaborate closely with multi-national and local companies as well as your colleagues in-house. Your contribution is needed on a daily basis to sales and marketing related questions, but also concerning legal, regulatory, logistic, quality and safety issues. Active development of the business means also travelling and face to face meetings with your partners. It is important that you are a business oriented doer with both structured and analytical mindset as well as having good social skills. AM  position is located in Head Office Espoo Finland.

Region Partner Sales (PS) is resposible for Orion Pharma sales and marketing operation in Asia Pasific, Middle East, North America, Latin America and Africa. PS is part of Global Sales which is in charge of sales of PP and SpP. PS has 5 employees and 2018 Net Sales were 156 mio €. Area Manager is reporting to Head of Region  Hannu Meriläinen


You hold an academic degree, preferably in business, law or natural sciences. You have a proven track record from functions such as sales, marketing, business development or finance. Knowledge about the international pharma  market is a significant advantage. You have a high performing mind-set, excellent analytical skills, business and industry understanding, such as setting direction and strategy. Furthermore you have high impact communication skills and ability to influence, but you have also  great people and project management skills. You are fluent in spoken and written English, any other major language (Spanish, Portuguese, France) would be a valued benefit.

The following areas of experience are necessary for being successful in this Area Manager position

  • Experience of international business min 10 years
  • Establishing, maintaining and developing commercial partnerships, including B2B
  • Insight into the challenges and opportunities pharma business has in the future.
  • International exposure, working with customers in different markets and cultures
  • You are a great team player, but also capable of working independently
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
